All-you-can-eat but COOK IT YOURSELF BARBECUE in Hong Kong!?! CRAZY! Biking to eat BBQ

Eat through and EXPLORE TAI MEI TUK with us!

The Tai Po to Tai Mei Tuk cycling route, in my opinion, is the funnest, easiest, most beginner and family-friendly cycling route there is in Hong Kong. It's only about 2 hours and 9km and there's lots to see along the way. I've only biked 6 times in my entire life and I found the route to be tiring but doable and there are only 2-3 hills, so if you need to, you can get off your bike and walk up the hill. There is a designated cycling lane which is decently wide and you don't have to ride on the street (the cycling path infrastructure in Hong Kong is very basic compared to other countries).

POPULAR DAY TRIP ACTIVITY - BIKING + BBQ
Cycling from Tai Po to Tai Mei Tuk, eating tofu pudding halfway through the journey, and then ending with a BBQ at Tai Mei Tuk is one of the most popular day trips and activity in Hong Kong.

WHY DO I LOVE THIS CYCLING ROUTE?
For an urban scenic cycling route, this one is:
1) convenient to get to, starts at the Tai Po Market MTR station
2) the path is quite wide, so you don't have to manoeuvre through poles
3) there are no sharp turns or cycling alongside cars, which as a beginner, I cannot do
4) the route is pretty flat, there are only 2-3 notable small hills
5) you can rent the bike near the starting point, and then return at the end point (super convenient!)
6) ends at a destination, Tai Mei Tuk, that has a lot of food options
7) very scenic and good for taking photos along the way

NOTE: There are other easier biking paths, but they sort of go nowhere. They're literally like a circular route for you to learn how to bike contained in a small area or you have to return your bike at the original location. For those more advanced eager beavers, there are extensions of the cycling route, including having the starting point at Tai Wai instead OR extending to Plover Cove.

That was a really fun little video. Nice to see you get out of the food scene and do a little excursion. Although it must have been hot that day. I always like how you keep things light and add your own sense of humor to your videos. It’s really cute, 😊
  • @AsianPoshDorene
You and Mike Chen need another video whenever he’s back in HK! The video you’re in 2 years ago has 2.4 million views!!!! Whoa! Love your adventures! :)
  • @maycheng6990
This is giving me so many memories of when I went to Tai Mei Tuk a few years ago! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
  • Oh, this video brought back a great memory from the one time I got to go to Tai Mei Tuk. There was a Thai restaurant where I had the best pineapple fried rice in my life. It was so good, I can't even remember the other dishes. It's been five or six years now and I am still dreaming about it 😍 Will definitely book a bike tour from Yuen Long to Tai Mei Tuk the next time I am back in Hong Kong 👍

Tai Po...my old hood, V!! Will add biking and BBQ to my things-to-do list when I get back...right after that 7 day mandatory quarantine period gets lifted! 😡 😷

That is a nice looking bike that you are riding Virginia. Also I'm glad you are okay from that scrap. I like the Mochi Gang shirt you have on, also you have a warming and charming personality Virginia sweetheart. I'm so happy to see you uploading more videos this month. I will be looking forward to the next video as well. Enjoy your week in Hong Kong . I will let you know once I visit Hong Kong again.

It’s been a while since the last time I went to Hong Kong (back in 2009/2010). Really want to go back soon and check out the Dai Pai Dong there. This place looks like fun! 🤩
